The UK Centre for Professional Qualifications (UK CPQ) covers all aspects of professional qualifications in an international context. We provide advice and guidance to a variety of stakeholders in this area, including professionals, professional bodies, employers, and sector skills councils.

The UK CPQ is designated by the UK Government to provide advice and guidance on the recognition of professional qualifications in line with the European Union (Recognition of Professional Qualifications) Regulations 2015, as amended by the Professional Qualifications and Services (Amendments and Miscellaneous Provisions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020.

The UK CPQ is the central point of contact for the UK, providing information and support to professionals, competent authorities, and contact points from EU Member States, the EEA, Switzerland, and jurisdictions covered by Free Trade Agreements or other recognition agreements with the UK government. This information includes guidance on the recognition of professional qualifications in the UK and advising professionals on the right to recognition in the UK, as well as signposting to relevant social legislation for those coming to work in the UK.

The UK CPQ provides support to professionals, competent authorities, and contact points with information and signposting concerning the recognition of professional qualifications for those seeking recognition in the EU Member States, EEA, Switzerland, and jurisdictions covered by Free Trade Agreements or other recognition agreements with the UK government. The UK CPQ also provides the Certificate of Experience service for those who have worked in an unregulated trade or craft in the UK but are seeking recognition in a country that regulates that profession.

The UK CPQ works closely with the UK competent authorities involved in the recognition of professional qualifications and collaborates with international contact points where appropriate to smooth the process of professional qualification recognition.
